Surviving Escort Quests On World Of Warcraft

By Mike Miller

One of the best -and most exciting- ways to raise your World of Warcraft character's level is by embarking on as many quests as possible, as outlined in the WoW guide. Dungeons and angry mobs are all in a day's work for the serious Warcraft gamer, but a quest is a chance for the truly daring hero to test his worth, and experience an exciting new landscape of potential waiting to be realized in this incredible world. No quest is ever the same, with a variety of possibilities to suit your interests and slake your thirst for adventure. As further described in the WoW Guide, quests range from your standard mercenary pursuit of a target mob to good old fashion capture-the-flag maneuvers to obtain valuable artifacts or other such items of significance deep behind enemy lines.

And finally there are the escort quests. These quests begin when you come across a friendly NPC who is trapped in a dangerous area. Like many quests of this type in games you need to lead the NPC through the are to a specified location, defending them from harm along the way. Escort quests have great rewards, but how can you survive what is usually the bane of a gamer's existence?

Before partaking in an escort quest you want to make sure that you're properly equipped for it. Put up buffs and make sure you have a full health bar before starting the quest. If you've got a pet tagging along make sure that you're on its good side. You don't have to take the quest right when you find it, so make sure you give yourself some preparation time first. These quests sometimes take you out of the area so double check that you've got everything in place before you begin.

When the character that you are escorting starts walking, start walking with them. Look forward as you go, though, because they are going to be walking into the aggro radius of the mobs in front of you. If at all possible, preemptively bring in the mobs that you think you are going to deal with.

Don't be alarmed when the object of your quest rushes to meet these mobs. They'll come back as soon as you've taken care of business. Also, keep in mind that there is no quest without the character you've ventured to escort; don't forget to monitor their health!

For many escort quests, they will suddenly trigger several guards or mobs into appearing and attack you. This is on top of the mobs you will be passing, so be careful. This is why preemptively pulling mobs is a good idea. The fewer people that you have to fight at a time, the better!

Hunters and warlocks, along with a pet, have the best advantage when it comes to escort quests. If you don't have a pet you may want to party with other players to take on an escort quest.

Fortunately for the wary, there's the WoW guide to dismiss any qualms you might have about an escort quest. If you're not a hundred percent confident entering into an escort quest, a WoW guide will dispel any doubt as to whether or not you're up for the challenge. - 32500
