To earn gold in World of Warcraft, there are several different ways. One way is to use your profession to gather or craft items and sell them in either trade channel or auction house.
The more you gather, the more you developer your skills. And gathering professions are almost free to level up.
There is a trap when it comes to crafting professions. Most people fall for it.
Remember Your End Goal
Yes, it's fun to produce things like jewels, enchants, armor and weaponry, and it's practical to be able to make your own, so you don't have to buy from others.
But your end goal should probably be to earn gold. Your real goal in having a profession should not be levelling up your skills.
You probably will not get the impression that the people who put up items for sale in the auction house are doing that for the gold.
On my server, you can often see jewelry, glyphs and other crafted items for sale at prices that are ten times lower than the price it costs to actually create them.
Now you may probably argue that, if you sell them for more expensive prices, your items will not be sold, since everybody else is undercutting - and you'd be right.
If you can, do not sell.
There are other ways to make money with these items. If prices are so low on your products that you will be selling them at a loss, or not be able to sell them at all, then the answer is obvious. Don't try to sell them!
All your uncommon or green items can be disenchanted. After disenchanted, your rings, weapons, armor, and some other items can turn into dusts and shards. Dusts and shards are free to put up for sale. There is no risk for you to sell them as you do not need to pay any fees if your enchanting materials are not sold. Thus you can avoid undercutting the other prices.
Find somebody in your guild to help you if you don't have a character with enchanting as a profession. Alternatively, you can ask on trade and pay a tip to the enchanter who assists you.
It is costly to level up a crafting profession but do not make it harder for yourself than you have to. While you are leveling up, don't undercut prices but instead use your items in a creative way to earn gold. - 32500
