Alliance Warriors - Determining Which Race Is Best

By James Travis

Considering starting a World of Warcraft account? You want to play something useful, but isn't overplayed? Give warrior a shot, it's welcome everywhere, and can fill two roles, tank and dps. First things first, you'll have to give each race a look over, I'll start with the alliance races.

Humans can excel in any class they roll, with its abilities being spread out, but not focused. Starting with Every Man for Himself, the PvP trinket in a racial, it has uses in PvE situations, too. Freeing up a trinket slot endgame is nice, too. The bonus to sword and mace expertise is great, making gearing easier and increasing damage and threat output. The ability Perception is great for PvP; it allows you to see stealthed units from farther away, giving you and extra chance to react. Lastly, the bonus to reputation gains is very nice, you'll be grinding lots of reputation at max level.

The next race on the list, Dwarves, is another great choice with a decent amount of utility. It too has a bonus to mace expertise, which can be useful for higher damage and threat output. There's the Frost resistance, which is good for PvP and general leveling. I myself didn't use Treasure Finding as much, but it can help with getting extra gold while leveling. The gun specialization isn't quite as useful for warriors, but can be handy for pulling. Lastly, Stoneform blocks poison and bleed damage, and increases armor by 10%. It has uses in both PvE and PvP situations, making Dwarves another rounded choice for warriors.

Gnome racials are more PvP oriented. The main ability, Escape Artist, drops movement impairing effects from you. This has its obvious uses for PvP, but it can help the tank pull mobs away from the healers and ranged dps in a raid or instance. The bonus to engineering is nice; engineering is a great profession in both PvP and PvE. Arcane resistance isn't bad. A racial no listed on the list is the Gnomes size, they're harder to target in PvP, where each second counts.

Night Elves bring a bit of the rogue class to warriors, with Shadowmeld and the bonus to evasion. It has many obvious uses for PvP, but it's a great way to drop threat or stay unnoticed in PvE. Then there's the bonus to nature resist, always fun. Night Elves are a better choice for PvP than PvE, in my opinion.

Lastly, Draenei have the heal over time Gift of the Naaru, with use in any situation. There's the bonus to shadow resistance, always welcome. Then there's Heroic Presence, with the 1% bonus to hit. Hit is an amazing stat, and should never be overlooked. The bonus to Jewelcrafting can be nice too. Draenei look completely awesome endgame, too.

I hope this helps you make an intelligent choice in rolling your warrior, they're a fun class. I didn't mention it earlier, but keep in mind how your toon will look in endgame gear, each race looks cooler in certain gear than others. Try not to undercut too much on the auction and keep yourself geared well. - 32500
